Account Deletion

Last Updated: June 18, 2026

GaneshaWallet is the mobile application used to hold your Decentralized Identifier (DID) and Verifiable Credentials, managed by GaneshaDCERT. This page explains how to permanently delete your account and what happens to your data. Deleting your account removes your wallet and personal data from your device and from our servers, subject to the exceptions below.

Delete your account in the app

  1. 1Open GaneshaWallet and sign in first. If you are logged out, log in with your seed phrase; if you are already logged in, unlock with your PIN or biometrics.
  2. 2Go to Settings, then Profile.
  3. 3Select the account deletion option.
  4. 4Confirm your request to erase your local wallet and submit a deactivation request for your DID and server-side account.

Request deletion by email

If you can no longer access the app, email us from the address associated with your account. Please include your Decentralized Identifier (DID) so we can locate and verify your account. We may ask you to verify ownership before processing the request.

Data that will be deleted

  • Your account profile and authentication tokens
  • Your locally stored wallet β€” seed phrase, PIN, and biometric configuration
  • Cached Verifiable Credentials and Verifiable Presentations
  • Push-notification tokens
  • Pending credential or presentation requests linked to your account

eKYC (identity verification) data

Sensitive data auto-deleted after 24h

eKYC is the identity verification data you submit to verify your identity β€” your name, ID number, and ID document image, all stored encrypted. The most sensitive items (your ID number and document image) are automatically purged 24 hours after submission.

Delete only your eKYC data

  1. 1Open GaneshaWallet and sign in.
  2. 2Go to Settings, then Identity Verification (eKYC).
  3. 3Confirm your identity with your PIN or biometrics when prompted.
  4. 4Tap Delete, then confirm in the dialog. Your eKYC data is removed and your status returns to "not submitted".
Deleting your account also deletes your eKYC data.
Deleting only your eKYC data does not delete your account β€” your wallet and DID stay active.

Data that will be retained

  • Records written to the blockchain β€” such as your DID document and the issuance or revocation status of Verifiable Credentials β€” are immutable by design. Instead of being deleted, your DID is deactivated so it can no longer be used.
  • Limited records required to comply with legal, tax, audit, or fraud-prevention obligations, retained for as long as the law requires.

Processing time

In-app deletion of local wallet data takes effect immediately. Removal of your account and personal data from our servers is completed within several days of your request. Blockchain entries remain permanently but are marked as deactivated.
